GoBang Linux – a light and fast operating system based on Ubuntu repositories.

The default environment is built on the Openbox window manager. G.B.L allows you to easily and quickly customize your system to suit your needs. ISO images are not issued regularly and contain alternate installation CDs.

The idea to create GoBang OS was born out of the need for rapid, lightweight operating system that aims to provide an alternative look at the OS.
The system allows a large amount of software installations, and complete control over the appearance. The GoBang Project aims nature of information and education.

The idea for GoBang came about in November 2012. At the beginning system ISO was published only in one language (Polish) and pointing to a small group of students, studying at the “Administration of the Operating Systems “. As the education program do not provide deeper discussions about the alternative system solutions from the family of operating systems Linux and Unix and most of the issues are based on the Microsoft products, I (developer) decided to take care of this problem and start promoting solutions based on codes such as open end free source.

By optimizing linux purely for the purpose of multimedia playing, fast load up times and excellent results are produced even on older computers.

LiMP works by loading itself into your RAM when you switch on your PC or laptop. The CD is then ejected, leaving your CD/DVD player available for use. It has been created for use on all computers for those of all computer abilities: LiMP can autodetect your sound video and network cards, hard-disks and USB storage devices, and has a friendly menu-driven interface. As well as running from the CD, it can be easily integrated into your linux partition and selected from the grub menu at boot time.

Multimedia playback is provided by MPlayer and XMMS, two of the most popular sound and video tools, providing ease of use and familiarity.

The project developer is V. Krishna Karthik.

U-Lite (formerly: Ubuntulite) – a lightweight Linux distribution, based on Ubuntu, designed to run on old and low-resource machines. It is intended for users of legacy systems, not just to make a small linux distro.

So to this end the Operating system needs to be:
– Easily used by people with minimal computer skills
– Usable on old or resurrected computers, and
– Able to satisfy a typical user’s requirement of applications and functionality.

These are the three core aims of the Ubuntulite project.

While this is still subject to some change, Ubuntulite will come with: Openbox, ROX-Filer, fbpannel, menu, Kazehakase, Sylpheed, Gaim, XMMS, Abiword, GNUmeric, and mtpaint.

Ubuntulite should run well on a Pentium (75 MHz), equivalent or better, with 32 MB or more RAM.

0Linux – a complete French-language GNU/Linux operating system for 32-bit and 64-bit x86 machines, built from scratch and based solely on itself, for general use. 0Linux attempts to learn how to use a Linux system: many configuration files are translated into French and contain comments on their use; the installer asks to use the command line to inform the system, but assisted.

The included graphical environments are: Enlightenment, Fluxbox, KDE, Razor-qt, XBMC and Xfce. An early integration of GNOME is underway.

Special features of the system:
– The system uses the Spack package manager (“* .spack” packages)
– Packages subscriptions make easy to install packages (any KDE, GIMP and its plugins, LAMP server, etc.)
– The system updates and installs packets via the online tool 0g, which handles the inter-packet dependencies
– The system is initialized with “BSD” scripts, such as Slackware, among others, under /etc/rc.d/rc.*
– All tools specific to 0Linux start with “0” to find them easily from the command line
– The kernel is compiled with the maximum number of options and modules and is optimized for multimedia processing
– 0Linux 64 bits has the particularity of being “multilib”: architectures i686 and x86_64 can cohabit within the same system. It is thus possible to compile and run 32-bit and 64-bit software
– Distribution “semi-rolling”: it goes from one version to another (eta -> theta for example) with a simple 0g
– A system construction scripts are available to recompile the distribution yourself or write your own recipes

Special features of the source code:
– Packages are sorted into categories according to whether they are command line tools, libraries, graphical applications, network tools, development tools, or are linked to an environment (X, KDE, Xfce, etc.)
– A recipe for each package is “multiarch” (tested for i686 and x86_64)
– Scripts contains compile and automatically install packages or sets of packages and run a build server.

Semplice – a lightweight and fast Linux distribution based on Debian GNU/Linux and Openbox window manager.

For “normal” works, Semplice needs i686 CPU and 384MB RAM memory at least.

Starting from version 7, Semplice features desktop Vera, which is a fork of Openbox.

Semplice is available in two editions: Current and Workstation.

The Current variant is based on the unstable (“Sid”) branch, which contains the latest version of all your favorite applications. And it also means that everything is rolling-release: you install one time and always get the latest updates, forever. This variant is the most updated one, and will get more feature updates than the other.

The Workstation variant is based on the stable (“Jessie”) branch. This means that you’ll get an heavily-tested, rock-solid set of applications and updates that will be supported for a long time.

The project developer is Eugenio Paolantonio.
