Monomaxos – a Linux distribution that virtually covers all the user’s requirements from a Live DVD so can be tested without installing it on a hard drive. An effort has been made to ensure that almost all programs included in the distribution as well as the actual operating system are translated into the Greek language.

It fully supports all known types of multimedia files and web elements and can even be used as a Media Center. It has a full office suite with functional spell-checking in Greek and has a graphical interface with stylish graphics available even for computers that do not have full 3D support capabilities.

A very important feature, added with version 4.0, is ability to install it on a hard disk and through Windows. It creates a dual boot system where the startup of the computer simply chooses whether to start the Monochrome or Windows. This setup mode allows for a very fast and “bleak” uninstallation if the user desires it.

For those with older computers, a version called Monomaxos Lite edition has been created which requires very low RAM/16MB graphics card requirements, as is the case of netbooks. For the creation of the Lightweight version of Monomaxos, it used Ubuntu 9.04 mini CD base. The interface in this version is very lightweight LXDE and can be installed on ext4 file system.

Architecture: x86, x86_64
Based on: Arch Linux

Media: Live CD
The last version | Released: 0.7 | April 7, 2011

CTKArch – a minimalistic Arch Linux setup (and not a distribution), that comes with a set of carefully selected applications and provides maximum hardware support, exclusively using free open-source software.

It aims at providing the indispensable base applications for a desktop installation, while saving time on the installation process by autoconfiguring the system, in the same way you would have done by hand.

The included applications are chosen among the lighter available, yet keeping the interface user-friendly and the benefits of a rolling-release distribution: CTKArch has become the running proof that this is possible!

Its base principle is to leave the users with a choice, when there is one: applications are only included if their usefulness isn’t questionable.

CTKArch features a powerful add-on system, and support for a persistent data partition, that allow to easily add custom applications to the live system, leaving the base ISO devoid of any piece of software some people may not appreciate.

The CTKArch live CD/USB can be installed, for instance on your hard disk or memory card.

Once installed, it becomes a classical Arch Linux installation, with applications for web browsing, e-mail, chat, FTP, file-management & archiving, office, image, audio and video viewing & edition, and CD burning; just as if you had spent your day choosing them.

The live iso provides support for English and French languages out of the box.

Litrix Linux – a Gentoo based Linux distribution in live CD format that can also be installed as a desktop operating system on x86 computers. The project was created and developed by Vagner Rodrigues between 2000 and 2011.

The first trial version of Litrix wes released in 2000 with the release of BZS (Brazilian Zip Slackware) a modified version of Slackware which was running on FAT 32 partitions giving an option to Windows 9X users who were not familiar with the GNU/Linux system to have the first contacts without the need to repartition the HD.

In late 2003 due to several problems with print servers and printer filters in Slackware, Vagner began looking for a better alternative to the print filters than APSFILTER used in Slackware.

After creating packages for Slackware from Foomatic + cups to Slackware, Vagner takes a copy of the script that generates the live CD Slax and develops Litrix Linux 1.0. Later Litrix Linux creates a fork of similarities with Slax and passes its own live CD generation script and CD boot.

In 2005 Litrix 2.1 was the time to say goodbye to the Slackware base and switch using the Gentoo base, allowing you to bring new features and ability to be customized for performance.
