Pegasus OS – a GNU/Linux distribution based on Ubuntu and Debian. The Pegasus OS highlight the easy and stable operation.

The current version name is Helix Nebula – every point version honors a celestial object, which does not necessarily need to be associated with the Pegasus constellation, which is already honored by the name of the distribution.

The focus is on ease of use and the possibility of being an environment for developing software and learning various tools.
It already has a video editor, IDE for software development, image editors, productivity suite, and others.

The project emerged as a personal initiative to improve learning about Linux, as well as the availability of tools used in the educational field. It is a hobby associated with professional and personal use.

It was decided to use the XFCE environment for its lightness, without losing its beauty, but it also has LXDE for faster access.

The project developer is Arnaldo Vasconcellos.

Feliz – a bootable live CD which offers the quickest and easiest way to install Arch Linux and a selection of software from the Arch repos.

Feliz purpose is to speed up installation of Arch Linux, plus a desktop environment and a ‘shopping list’ of extras like web browsers, office software and programming tools. An initialising phase gathers essential data of location, username, and passwords, and works with the user to set up their partitioning and desktop environment requirements. The script then runs without further intervention to the end.

It starts a live session of Arch Linux, and runs the script. All you have to do is follow the prompts. Installation follows closely the Arch Wiki beginners’ guide, and hopefully you will understand something of the process by the time it has finished; you may even like to try a manual installation with the help of the Wiki.

The live system works in text mode.

Feliz is a successor of Achoo! project, both founded and developed by Elizabeth Mills.

FabBSD

Based on: 4.4BSD
Wikipedia:

The last version | Released: ? | May 2018

FabBSD – a special purpose 4.4BSD-based UNIX-like operating system, designed for machine control applications. Using low-cost hardware, FabBSD can be used to control a wide array of CNC milling machines, lathes, routers, process-control and automation equipment.

A common task of FabBSD systems is the coordinated motion of machine axes, whether driven by steppers, servo-motors or cylinders (with or without software-based closed-loop control). FabBSD uses a kernel-mode trajectory planner to generate stable motion control signals (using blended S-curve velocity profiles) at high frequencies with minimal hardware requirements.

It features applications such as:
– Machine tools: CNC milling machines, lathes, routers, lasers
– Automation: Manipulators, power supplies, relays, valves, heaters
– Instrumentation: Optical encoders, thickness gauges, sensors

FabBSD’s kernel and base are forked from OpenBSD. Its machine control drivers (/sys/dev/cnc/), userland libraries (libcnc) and applications could be easily ported back to OpenBSD, NetBSD or FreeBSD with minimal patching to other parts of the kernel. The base distribution includes OpenSSH, Sudo, Binutils, GCC and GDB. The installation process is straightforward (via CD-ROM, FTP, floppies or tapes).

As of 2018, FabBSD is undergoing active development again and contributors are welcome to provide feedback or patches.

The project founder is Julien Nadeau Carriere.

It has a curses installer, some preinstalled applications such as i3, ranger, polybar, and firefox. It has a pentesting focus, but only has about 30 tools preinstalled, as not to provide hundreds of similar tools, that are ultimately useless.

Firefox has some about:config tweaks built in, and some privacy addons preinstalled. There is also offline Documentation, written in latex, containing the pentesting tools installed, and the i3 keybinds.
