MAX Madrid_Linux – a GNU/Linux distribution created by the Ministry of Education and Employment in Madrid (Council of Education of Madrid), based in Spain. The system has been specially adapted for use in educational environments due to its simplicity, reliability and software collection.

The live system is based on Ubuntu and is equipped with the MATE desktop and a wide set of pre-installed educational applications.
MAX is available in two versions: desktop and server, for 32 and 64 bit machines.

The desktop version offers several options such as a teacher’s or student system; in addition, for use for children and primary education.

The server version offers an operating system designed for a single computer capable of handling all connections, with load balancing, proxy, printer management and even creating mobile profiles.

The distribution is equipped with an installer that allows you to change the size of FAT or NTFS partitions, create additional space and transfer the MAX system to your computer’s hard drive.

MoLinux – an Ubuntu based Linux distribution targeted to Spanish users and developed by the Ministry of Education of Castilla La Mancha in Spain. It includes some features such as Nanny (a parental control), KeePassX (password manager), Sinadura (application to digitally sign a PDF document), MolinuxSync (allows us to synchronize files within a workgroup ), Gnome Control Center (to configure our system easily), XBMC (a complete multimedia center), etc.

Antergos – a modern Linux distribution based on Arch Linux. It is a continuation of the Cinnarch project, which was discontinued at the end of April 2013.

Antergos offers Cinnamon, GNOME, KDE, MATE, Openbox and Xfce desktops as desktop option to choose during installation process.
The system features a graphical installer called “Cnchi”, which allows to choose the default desktop environment.

Antergos is a rolling release and, like Arch Linux, does not need to be reinstalled with the new installation discs.
ISO images are available for 64-bit machines only.

As of May 21, 2019 a project member posted that the development of the distribution is discontinued.

Bardinux – an official distribution of the University of La Laguna (ULL), Canary Islands, Spain; which is based on GNU/Linux (Xubuntu), originally based on Kubuntu, developed by the Office of Free Software to cover the software needs of the members of the university community of the ULL. In this distribution, the most relevant software for the realization of practices, research and general use has been compiled, in easily installable packages.

In the distribution, the needs of the majority of university students have been taken into account, so the available applications are very varied:

LinEx (or gnuLinEx) – a Debian-based operating system that uses GNOME for its desktop. An initiative of the regional government of Extremadura, Spain, gnuLinEx is intended to be used in all schools in Extremadura, as well as in official institutions.

Trisquel GNU/Linux – a fully free operating system for home users, small enterprises and educational centers. Trisquel is derived from Ubuntu, but only includes free software. It’s free in the freedom sense. Users may run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve Trisquel (or any part of it).

The project began in 2004 with sponsorship of the University of Vigo for Galician language support in education software.
The project director is Rubén Rodríguez.

Trisquel editions are:

Trisquel:
– Intended for home and office
– Ready for productivity, entertainment, networking, and more
– Runs a customized version of the GNOME Flashback desktop environment

Mini Trisquel:
– Intended for netbooks, older computers and a lightweight user experience
– Runs a customized version of the LXDE desktop environment

Trisquel NetInstall:
– More appropriate for servers or minimal systems
– A small download, text mode installer or with the command line interface and requiring an Internet connection to set up.

Trisquel Sugar TOAST:
– Intended for children and teachers
– Sugar desktop interface integrates collaboration, reflection and discovery.

Trisquel 1.0 was based on Debian 4.0 (Etch), but all next versions are based on Ubuntu.
In 2008, Trisquel was included by the Free Software Foundation (FSF) in its list of Linux distributions endorsed by the Free Software Foundation.

Trisquel GNU/Linux is still under development, the latest version of 8.0 was released in April 2018.
