Blag Linux and GNU – a Linux distribution based on Fedora, and offers as a single live CD media.

Comparing Blag to Fedora, it contains an additional set of applications missing from graphics, internet, audio, video, office, and others.
BLAG is based on Fedora plus updates, adds applications from Dag, Dries, Freshrpms, NewRPMS, and own packages.

BLAG is one of the few operating systems listed as a completely free software distribution by the Free Software Foundation.
It is made by the Brixton Linux Action Group.

The lastest stable version of Blag 14000 was released in 2011.
The last testing version 20000 Alpha wae released in 2014.

Puredyne – a Linux distribution, based on Ubuntu and Debian Live, and aimed at creative people, looking for tools outside the standard. It provides the best experimental creative applications alongside a solid set of graphic, audio and video tools in a fast, minimal package. For everything from sound art to innovative film making.

Puredyne contains a set of packages, such as:
– Audio: puredata, supercollider, csound, chuck, ladspa plugins, ardour, audacity, ecasound
– Graphics: gimp, inkscape, fluxus, freej, processing + extras, imagemagick, gthumb, gphoto2
– Multimedia: mplayer, vlc, avidemux, kino, mencoder, transcode, luvcview, xawtv, recordmydesktop
– Streaming: icecast2, ices2, ffmpeg2theora, oggfwd, darkice, darksnow, gstreamer, dvswitch

64 Studio – a Debian GNU/Linux based distribution designed for audio and video recording, editing, and other forms of media production. It features a custom kernel with realtime patches applied, some pre-configuration and a custom package selection designed to meet the needs of creative desktop users.

The first beta version of 64 Studio 0.9.0 ‘Toe Rag’ was released on August 1, 2006. The release was named in honor of the all-analogue Toe Rag Studios in London, England.
The first stable release code name ‘Olympic’ was published on November 29, 2006. The code name recognition of the work of Glyn Johns and Eddie Kramer at Olympic Studios in London.
The second stable release 2.0 codename ‘Electric’, was announced on July 27, 2007. This release was named after Electrical Audio, the studio founded by sound engineer Steve Albini in Chicago, USA.
64 Studio version 2.1 ‘A Minha Menina’ was released on June 9, 2008, and is the last one available for download.
Version 4.0 beta 1 was published in May 2011.

The Project has apparently been renamed to OpenDAW.

Knoppix-STD – a Linux-based collection of open-source security tools placed on the top of Knoppix LiveCD.
It is a live Linux distribution, so it runs from a bootable CD in memory without changing the native operating system of the host computer.
STD uses Linux kernel 2.4 and the very light Fluxbox window manager.

STD focuses on information security and network management tools.
There are a large set of security tools pre-installed and divided into the categories:

– encryption utilities
– firewalls
– penetration tools
– vulnerability assessment
– forensic tools
– honeypots
– intrusion detection
– packet sniffers and assemblers

SolusOS – a Debian based, beginner-friendly Linux distribution with GNOME 2 desktop.

SolusOS 1.x is based on stable version of Debian GNU/Linux “Squeeze”, and the first release was published in May 2012.
It features the GNOME 2 desktop, a set of applications for everyday tasks, such as: LibreOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird, XChat, OpenShot Video Editor, Transmission, VLC, PlayOnLinux, Java and Flash plugins, Synaptic package manager, etc.
SolusOS FirstRunWizard helps installing non-free drivers for NVidia and ATI graphics cards.

The next release of SolusOS 2 was built from stretch.
It used GNOME 2 desktop and then its own fork of GNOME 2 Flashback (the GNOME 3 Fallback Mode), called “Consort”.
The project has been closed in 2013.

The founder and developer of SolusOS is Ikey Doherty.

There is another project develops by Ikey – EvolveOS, which uses Budgie desktop. It was renamed to Solus in 2015, so make sure that SolusOS and Solus are two different projects.

CrunchBang Linux – a Debian based Linux distribution featuring the lightweight Openbox window manager.

CrunchBang offers customized Openbox window manager and pre-installed applications which use the GTK+ widget toolkit.

Previously CrunchBang was based on Ubuntu (9.04), until its support has been ended.
CrunchBang 10 “Statler” was made in February 2011, and was the first version that was based on Debian stable “Sueeze”.
The next (and the last) version of CrunchBang 11 “Waldorf”, was made available on 6 May 2013.

Each CrunchBang Linux release was given a code name, using a name of a Muppet Show character.

The founder and developer of CrunchBang Linux is Philip Newborough.
On 6 February 2015 he officially stopped developing CrunchBang.

Feather Linux – a small, Knoppix based Linux distribution which fits in under 128 MB.
It boots from either a CD or a USB flash drive, into a Fluxbox desktop environment and works in live mode, but a hard drive installation option is also available. It can run on a 486 or higher, and requires 16MB RAM to run on the console, and 24MB RAM to run the X server.

Feather Linux iso image features a set of applications for many tasks, such as: Firefox, Gaim, AbiWord, MPlayer with all the needed plugins, XMMS with a handful of plugins, Sylpheed, AbiWord, Pidgin, Rox-filer, and a lot more.

Due it is based on Knoppix (and Debian), Feather offers Synaptic for package managing.

The founder and developer of the Feather Linux is Robert Sullivan.
