LynxOS RTOS – the hard real-time operating system (RTOS) for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and telecommunications equipment manufacturers (TEMs), created by Lynx Software Technologies (formerly “LynuxWorks”).

LynxOS supports x86, PowerPC, PowerQUICC, and MIPS processor families. LynxOS can run natively on most x86 and PowerPC platforms. While LynxOS can run natively on some PowerQUICC platforms, it is not recommended due to processor speed and board memory constraints. LynxOS does not support native development for MIPS. LynxOS cross development kits are available hosted on SunOS/Solaris, Windows 98/NT, and RedHat Linux 6.1 cross to x86, PowerPC, PowerQUICC, and MIPS targets. HP-UX is available as a cross development host targeting MIPS only.

In addition, LynuxWorks provides porting kit and source code products to customers who wish to port LynxOS to custom hardware that uses a CPU from one of the basic processor families supported by LynxOS.
