ue17r (Ubuntu Enlightenment17 Remix) – a Linux distribution, rather a research project or a kind of experiment than a “normal” distribution. The project was born on October, 2011 as an Ubuntu remix with Enlightenment as the default desktop having the name ue17r (Ubuntu Enlightenment17 Remix).

ue17r is a modification of Xubuntu Linux, from which the standard desktop Xfce has been removed and replaced by Enlightenment 17.
The system was compatible with the Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal.

ue17r comes with many applications, codecs and plugins preinstalled (also closed source) which makes it easier to migrate from another non-Linux system.

Alongside of the ue7r desktop lightness and speed, it offers good functionality as well. The Live system works in English as default; other localization are available after installation on a hard drive or a virtual machine.

After a few months of testing, in 2012, the base system was changed to Debian and it was renamed to SparkyLinux.
