Tango Studio – a Debian-based Linux distribution for creating multimedia files.

The live system contains a large set of free and open-source software for sound, video and graphics editing and creation.
The first version of Tango Studio was based on Ubuntu, and the developer hac built meta-packages which could be installed on a Ubuntu 10.04 LTS installation, to turn it into Tango Studio.

The version 2 is based on Debian stable and features MATE desktop instead of GNOME.
The live system can be installed on a hard drive via provided Debian based installer.

Puredyne – a Linux distribution, based on Ubuntu and Debian Live, and aimed at creative people, looking for tools outside the standard. It provides the best experimental creative applications alongside a solid set of graphic, audio and video tools in a fast, minimal package. For everything from sound art to innovative film making.

Puredyne contains a set of packages, such as:
– Audio: puredata, supercollider, csound, chuck, ladspa plugins, ardour, audacity, ecasound
– Graphics: gimp, inkscape, fluxus, freej, processing + extras, imagemagick, gthumb, gphoto2
– Multimedia: mplayer, vlc, avidemux, kino, mencoder, transcode, luvcview, xawtv, recordmydesktop
– Streaming: icecast2, ices2, ffmpeg2theora, oggfwd, darkice, darksnow, gstreamer, dvswitch
– Network: firefox, links2, network-manager, wireless-tools, ssh, telnet, gftp, irssi, nfs

Older versions of Puredyne were based on dyne:bolic.

Puredyne development has been made possible by Arts Council England.

The last version of Puredyne 9.11 was released in 2010.

dyne:bolic – a live Linux distribution based on Ubuntu and targeted to media activists, artists and creators. It is able to recognize automatically most of devices and peripherals such as: sound, video, TV, network cards, firewire, USB devices, etc.

The live system contains a large set of applications which allow manipulation and broadcast of both sound and video with tools to record, edit, encode, and stream.

dyne:bolic is intended to be used as Live CD/DVD and it does not require installation to a hard drive. It is designed to work with old and slow computers, and its kernel is optimized for low latency and for performance.

dyne:bolix 1.x and 2.x was developed independently, and used Window Maker and Xfce desktops. The first version was released in March 2005.
The last version of dyne:bolic 3.0 was based on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, used Linux kernel 3.0, Gnome 2 as its default desktop environment, Debian-Live scripts, and was released in September 2011.

The founder and and maintainer is Denis Roio.

64 Studio – a Debian GNU/Linux based distribution designed for audio and video recording, editing, and other forms of media production. It features a custom kernel with realtime patches applied, some pre-configuration and a custom package selection designed to meet the needs of creative desktop users.

The first beta version of 64 Studio 0.9.0 ‘Toe Rag’ was released on August 1, 2006. The release was named in honor of the all-analogue Toe Rag Studios in London, England.
The first stable release code name ‘Olympic’ was published on November 29, 2006. The code name recognition of the work of Glyn Johns and Eddie Kramer at Olympic Studios in London.
The second stable release 2.0 codename ‘Electric’, was announced on July 27, 2007. This release was named after Electrical Audio, the studio founded by sound engineer Steve Albini in Chicago, USA.
64 Studio version 2.1 ‘A Minha Menina’ was released on June 9, 2008, and is the last one available for download.
Version 4.0 beta 1 was published in May 2011.

The Project has apparently been renamed to OpenDAW.
