OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) – an initiative to create low-cost laptops with a pre-installed operating system and a set of applications for children in developing countries.

The operating system in these machines is a modified version of Fedora Core, equipped with a special graphical interface called Sugar.

Along with the system, applications are pre-installed that enable work on the computer, such as:
– web browser based on Xulrunner
– simple document viewer based on Evince
– AbiWord word processor
– RSS news feed reader
– e-mail client, chat and VOIP client
– multimedia player
– tools for handling music, graphic files
– simple games
– etc.
