Part of the source code of the system is taken from CentOS and DSpace, and other source code is based on Magic Linux’s accumulated experience over the years, using the new Systemd startup mode, and currently supports private cloud platform operation, 64-bit architecture, flexible deployment support, including development environment, desktop applications, office software, multimedia playback and design, fonts, drivers, etc.
The 4.0 project has started research on virtualization support and operation since the end of 2017. The kernel has always maintained the latest longterm branch and has good support for new hardware.
Magic Linux 2.1 was released December 15, 2008. Magic Linux 3.0.5 was released July 14, 2014. Magic Linux 4.0 was released May 26, 2018.
