ClosedBSD – a FreeBSD derived firewall distribution bootable from a cdrom, compact flash, or floppy diskette. It features a complete curses based user interface for managing your network interfaces and firewall rulesets. ClosedBSD includes a powerful ncurses-based configuration manager, allowing the user to easily customize the firewall and NAT settings using a simple interface.

One of the advantages of ClosedBSD is, it can be run directly from a floppy or CD-ROM without need of a hard drive. It can also run on relatively old hardware; the floppy disk version requires an IBM-compatible PC with 8MB of RAM, while the CD-ROM version requires 32MB of RAM.

The latest versions are the 1.0B for floppy disk and 1.0-RC1 for CD.

Its binaries (executables) are freeware, that is, released for use at no cost. Distributed under the terms of the BSD License, which is a free software license. The source code is not, so it’s not free software, its source code is not available to anyone who wants to improve it.

The project developer is Joshua Bergeron.
