BlankOn – a Debian-based Linux distribution developed by the Indonesian Linux Mover Foundation (Yayasan Penggerak Linux Indonesia (YPLI)) and the BlankOn development team.

BlankOn is a general purpose distribution for PC users, containing a suite of office, financial, web, graphics, etc. applications. The system also provides support for multimedia formats/codecs such as MP3, VCD and DVD as well as Indonesian themes and graphics.

The system uses a desktop called Manokwari, which is based on GNOME 3, Gtk+ and HTML5.

BlankOn originally comes from the word ‘blangkon’ which means the ethnic headgear of the Indonesians.

The first version of BlankOn 1.0 was based on Fedora Core.
YPLI and Komunitas Ubuntu Indonesia have released BlankOn 2.0 “Konde” based on Ubuntu.

BlankOn Linux versions 1.0 and 2.0 were sponsored by UNESCO and several other institutions.
