StartOS (previously: Ylmf OS) – a Chinese, free and open source Linux distribution, developed by the YLMF Computer Technology Co., Ltd., a computer software company based in Dongguan, Guangdong, China.

It features pre-installed commonly used set of software. The operating system has characteristics of fast running speed, safe and stable, beautiful interface, simple and bright operation, etc. StartOS uses a brand-new package management and a brand-new operation interface. It is a desktop operating system that is easy to use, safe, stable, easy to expand, and more in line with Chinese operating habits. The security and stability of the Linux system is a well-known thing, and StartOS will stick to its own characteristics in the direction of ease of use.

The first version of Ylmf OS 1.0 was based on Fedora 11.
Version from 1.15 to 3.0 were based on Ubuntu 9.04, 9.10 and 10.04 LTS.
Version 4.0 was based on Xiange Linux.
Started from version 5.0 beta changed its name to StartOS, and is an independent developed OS.
