Icepack Linux – an independent Linux distribution built from scratch.

icepack is not a clone of nor is it based on another Linux distribution. If you are looking for a Debian variant for example look somewhere else. Expect icepack to go its own way as before. The distribution is focused on speed and simplicity.

It is developed to be simple in use operating system that’s fast, and allows you to do your every-day tasks.
You can expect icepack 3.0 to become the user-friendly, full-featured, pre-configured, well structured, easy to work with operating system filled
with the latest stable versions of great Linux applications that it was back in 2003 when the project went dormant.

By the way, back in 1999 icepack was [one of] the first Linux distribution[s] to ship with WindowMaker as the primary desktop environment.

More than 100 WindowMaker dockapps and themes are included.
The minimal hardware requirement is an i686 system.
icepack complies with the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard (FHS).

Login as “root” user with no password; run a desktop via the command: “startx”.

The Icepack Linux project maintainer and main developer is Adrian Hilgardth.
