Pear OS (previously: Pear Linux) – an Ubuntu based Linux distribution.

Pear features highly customized GNOME desktop with a dockbar applications launcher and pre-installed many popular multimedia codecs and plugins.

Default applications include: Nautilus file manager, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird email client, Shotwell image viewer, Evince document viewer, Empathy instant messenger, Gedit text editor, Musique audio player, Synaptic Package Manager, Pear PPA Manager, Pear Updater, Pear Software Center, Pear Contacts.

In early of 2014, the project has been closed after selling it to an unknown company.
The last version of Pear 8 was based on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail.

The founder and developer of Pear is David Tavares.
