MenuetOS – an operating system written in FASM assembler by Ville Turjanmaa.

MenuetOS includes a kernel supporting multitasking, a graphical interface, a WAV file player, an image file browser, a movie player with MPEG-2 codec, a simple text editor (TinyPad), a prototype HTTP client, an assembler, a simple TCP/IP stack and several games. The entire system fits on a standard 1.44MB floppy disk.

MenuetOS has been developed since 2000 and is still in the development phase.

The 32-bit version is available under the GNU GPL license, but is not under active development any more.
The 64-bit version is published under a proprietary license that allows the system to be used for personal and educational purposes.

MenuetOS is an independent system, it is not based on any other system and has no roots in UNIX, nor does it have anything to do with POSIX.
