LinuxKidX – a LiveCD with possibility to install on hard disk based on Slackware Linux.
The idea appeared during the university project by students Alexandre Pereira and Robson Maniasso.
The distribution has a few games and other applications suite to kids from 2 to 15 years old, such as:
– KStars virtual planetarium
– Kalzium periodic table of elements
– KTouch typing tutor
– KGeography geography software
– KWordQuiz general purpose flash card program
– ChildsPlay
– Gcompris
– KDE-edu
– the graphics application Tux paint
– an advanced graphics suite Gimp
– Google Earth
The first version of LinuxKidX was created just on Portuguese, but as the project have always been developing, appeared the idea to make public the distribution around the world, so that was created a English version. It is possible to change the locales installing the language package of KDE and change it on control center of KDE.
The last version of LinuxKidX 2.0 was released in 2009.
