Ilex – a GNU/Linux distribution for institutes of secondary education.
ILEX (latest version: 1.3) is a GNU/Linux distribution specially adapted to institutes of secondary education. It was offered as a single CD ready to be installed on a hard disk, but can also bu run in live mode. It allows you to start the computer from the CD-ROM, with the system and applications working from your own CD, without installing anything. If you want to install it, you will find automated hardware detection, system configuration and installation more then 100 applications.
ILEX can be used as:
– a full server center, which increases the performance and security of your network, where you can use Windows, Linux or mixed. The ILEX Server includes an application server, a lightweight terminal, an educational INTRANET server and a server on the Internet server.
– an ILEX terminal server thin client.
– FREELANCE home computer.
Ilex is a Knoppix remaster which uses KDE desktop and Spanish localization as default.
It was created by Roberto Ibañez and Juan Pablo Rodríguez in 2005.
