FreeDOS plus-plus (fdpp) – a 64-bit DOS kernel. It is based on the FreeDOS kernel ported to modern C++.

It can be compiled using clang (or experimentally using gcc) and run under dosemu2.

In its initial stages, the metacompiler was capable of compiling the Freedos kernel from almost unmodified sources. As the project evolved, the ability to compile Freedos from unmodified sources became less valuable and was abandoned because this copy of Freedos was heavily modified. As a result, the compiler is very small and focuses solely on its own coding patterns.

Its main tasks are parsing FAR pointers and generating thunk calls to the Freedos real-mode ASM code. Like any other compiler, fdpp comes with a small runtime support library and a dynamic linker.

FreeDOS plus-plus is not an operating system, but a 64-bit kernel.
