DNALinux – a Virtual Machine with a Linux distribution with bioinformatics software pre-installed. DNALinux Virtual Desktop Python for Bioinformatics edition is based on Xubuntu 8.04. There are old (and unsupported) versions of DNALinux that are based on SLAX, which is a small live version of Slackware.
The OS includes programs such as: NCBI BLAST, NCBI NetBLAST, EMBOSS, ESIM4 (EMBOSS SIM4), MSE, Phylip, Biopython, BioPerl, Kalign, Clustalx and Clustalw, njplot, Polyxmass, Primer3, Rasmol, Sigma-align, t_coffe, xviewg, Treeviewx, hmmer, NCBI-epcr, Cn3D NCBI Database Viewer, DDV Sequence Alignment Viewer, Entrez NCBI Database Querying Tool, OneD Biological Sequence Viewer, PyMOL Molecular Graphics System, Sequin DNA Sequence Submission Tool.

Version 0.2 of DNALinux was released on March 11, 2004, the latest version based on Slax was 0.592 and was released April 19, 2006.
