BeleniX – a UNIX distribution that is built using the OpenSolaris source base. It is a live CD with option to install to the hard disk.

BeleniX is available as a 32 bit live system, but it supports 64-bit (x86-64/AMD64) Solaris kernel and userland.
The main system’s desktop environment is KDE, but Xfce also been supported, both with or without Compiz as a window manager.

BeleniX is developed at the India Engineering Centre of Sun Microsystems in Bangalore, the silicon capital of India., and started as a private project by a few Sun employees working at Sun’s India Engineering Centre in the 2005.

The latest version of BeleniX 0.7.1 was released in 2008.
