Apollo OS – a m68k distribution, crafted specially for the Vampire V4 Standalone FPGA-based system. The ApolloOS system was build on the AROS open-source, cross-platform operating system a full and true re-implementation of AmigaOS. It is based on the AmigaOS 3.1 APIs.

The forked ApolloOS branch of AROS focuses on Amiga 68k to 100% and will not work on X86 or PPC.
While ApolloOS may run on older 68Ks, the CPU will not have good performance under AROS, nor the speed to play videos with Riva or play demanding games like Diablo. The focus is to improve the stability of AROS and compatibility with OS 3.x as well as to improve the performance on 68080.

A field-programmable gate array (FPGA) is a type of configurable integrated circuit that can be repeatedly programmed after manufacturing.

The Motorola 68000 series (also known as 680×0, m68000, m68k, or 68k) is a family of 32-bit complex instruction set computer (CISC) microprocessors.
