Tsurugi – a specialized Linux distribution based on Ubuntu (64-bit with a custom kernel), it is designed for DFIR investigations, malware analysis, and OSINT operations.

The project offers two repositories (mainstream and developer) for providing patches, improvements, and updates. Other security updates are provided through the official Ubuntu repositories.

The Tsurugi Linux project’s core philosophy is simplicity when it comes to topics that can be quite complex. However, basic Linux skills are required to work properly and get the most out of them.

System requirements for installing Tsurugi Linux:
– Dual-core processor 2 GHz or better
– 4 GB system memory
– 30 GB of free hard drive space (we recommend dynamically allocating 250 GB)
Ubuntu Courses

The system is offered in two versions:
– Lab 64-bit with a full suite of applications, ISO image approximately 4 GB
– Acquire 32-bit with a smaller suite of applications, ISO image approximately 1 GB

Tsurugi Acquire is a lightweight and simplified version of Tsurugi Linux LAB, designed to provide the basic tools needed to boot a computer and a small collection of utilities. For this reason, the installer has been removed and only works in live mode.

The default Tsurugi user is “root,” and the password is left blank.

The Tsurugi Linux team consists of a group of Backtrack and Deft Linux veterans united by the idea of creating a new DFIR operating system.
