System 1 (or: Macintosh System Software) – a proprietary graphical operating system released by the American company Apple in 1984 that launched the classic Mac OS series.
It was originally created for the Macintosh 128K, the first personal computer in the Macintosh family to run on the Motorola 68000 microprocessor. It received one major update to version 1.1 that year, and was later replaced by System 2.
The System 1 successor is System 2.
