Oralux – an association whose objective is to foster digital accessibility using solutions based upon Free Software and open standards.
Oralux is a GNU/Linux distribution for blind or visually impaired people. It proposes three audio environments (Emacspeak, Yasr, and Speakup), six languages (Brazilian Portuguese, English, French, German, Russian, and Spanish), and Braille drivers (Brltty 3.7.2).
It doesn’t need to be installed on a hard drive, the distribution can be used as a live media.
Oralux works in a text mode (no graphical environment).
Oralux was under development between 2003 and 2006, and was based on Knoppix.
In those days my internet was Dialup and I could not download the OS, and they generously posted a CD of the OS to me from France to west Asia.
I wish success, health and happiness for the team where ever they are now.
